Try Not To "Gourd" Yourself On Treats

Good day, traveller. Today a raven arrived from the distant village of Gourdlington. It seems some unknown miscreant was sneaking into the fields under the cover of night and smashing all the pumpkins. This was a problem for the small village, as the pumpkin patches are how they earn their gold coins, with the Night of Sweet Delights being their most important event. Gourdlington is more than two days ride, and we would never make it in time to stop the destruction of every pumpkin in the field. Fortunately, Guild Apprentice Lindsay was in a nearby town, distributing treat receptacles the Crafters Guild had recently created for the impoverished children. 

This was created for the reminder about the Just Some Lines October Challenge that is happening now! The theme this month is Halloween. Come play along with a JSL image for a chance to win a digi!

I started this project by colouring the Just Some Lines image with Prismacolor pencils, going against my usual style and not blending it with the Gamsol. I then cut the box out using the Mini Monster cartridge. 
Before assembling the box, I adhered the image and stamped a sentiment on the back using the Unity “Haunted House Halloween” set. Lastly I added some fun orange crinkle ribbon (thanks Karen!) for the handle of the box. 
Last thing I did...was eat all that candy in the picture, earning myself +500 calorie exp points NOM NOM NOM!!!

This little treat container will canvas for some goodies in the following challenges:
Luckily my raven reached Lindsay in time and she was able to make it to Gourdlington and, with the help of the villagers and some crafty cloaking spells, set up a sting to catch the pumpkin smashing fiend, thereby saving the realm’s pumpkin supply.

Training Can Leave You in Stitches

Greetings. Thank you for stopping by the Guild Hall today. Us guildys have been quite busy catching and training new familiars to fight alongside us in battle. In fact, our training regime with them has become so intense that I had Holton, the carpenter from the village, come to the Guild Hall and construct a little training gym for the creatures so we could level them up more efficiently. He did such nice work, I decided to take a break from training and retreated to the crafting chambers to make him a thank you card. 

This card was part of a collection of thank you cards I made. I started by inking three different sheets of white cardstock in pink, blue and yellow tones. For each one, I swiped two different colours of Distress Ink on my splat mat, spritzed them with water and wiped the cardstock through a couple times. After that I cut them into little 1” squares so I had a pile of pinkish ones, bluey ones and yellowish ones, earning me +725 rainbowy exp points.
These were the left over squares after making ten cards.
For this particular card I stamped a flower image using Inkadinkado “Special Thought For You” set. I then used my Cuttlebug and a cute stitched border folder to emboss the front. The sentiment came from the My Pink Stamper “Family and Friends” set.

With our new training room, we are able to level up our novice familiars much quicker than before, rapidly teaching them new skills and spells. Soon we will have quite a number of the little guys to choose from while questing. This should increase our spoil collection rate and help us gain levels more quickly.

A Sparkly Process

Today the Guardian of Glitter was in the lab experimenting with the new sparkle flakes the Lady Commander of Copics and I had recently harvested. She was working on a more stable form of glitter bomb powder...one that wouldn’t explode everywhere with each use. Despite the Lady Commander’s protests that it wasn’t an issue to be finding various flecks of glitter in everything for the next 16 months after using the stuff, I was adamant that a new formula be created. Upon hearing a loud explosion which rocked the entire Guild Hall, I rushed upstairs to ensure the Guardian of Glitter was intact. As I carefully cracked open the lab door, a puff of pink glitter emerged from within. Nikki stood in the middle of the room, her scarf in tatters and hair askew. “Eureka!” she exclaimed, holding up her beaker.  



This was created for the Creative Card Crew’s “Sun Moon or Stars” challenge that is happening now! Create a project using a sun, moon or stars and you could win a $15 gift voucher to Scrapping Center!
 
I started this card by stamping Amelia from The Greeting Farm’s “Fuzzy Wuzzy” set and colouring her with Prismacolor pencils. I then cut the letters out using the Winter Woodland cartridge. The stars I cut using a border off the Artbooking cartridge and chopping it in half so that both halves of the border were bursting out behind the image panel. 
I then cast a spell of +88 sparkle, adding glitter to all the stars on the project. Even the background paper has glittery pink stars on it. (Click the picture to see all the glittery goodness).
On the inside I used the Lawn Fawn “Cozy Christmas” set to stamp the sentiment and added some snowflakes with the “Frosty Friends” set. 

The envelope also got the pink and teal snowflake treatment, leaving some space to write the address in the middle. This holiday card earned me +999 non traditional exp points for not using any red or green, which allowed me to level up (in a non traditional manner of course)!

Using the sparkle flakes we had acquired from the cavern in Oakmont Glade, the Guardian of Glitter was able to create some new forms of glitter powder bombs as well as some nifty weapon enhancements. I was eager to try them out and not have to worry about having my lungs coated with glitter.

Hide Your Candy

This morning I was seated at the table, a mug of steaming coffee in hand, reading the morning news when I heard something curious. Coming from outside I could faintly hear “twiker tweeeeeeet.” This confused me as the Night of Sweet Delights was still a fortnight away. I threw on a cloak and went outside to investigate. Sure enough coming down the lane were two short figures carrying sacks. As they got closer I saw that they were not human. Checking to ensure I had a dagger in my boot, should the creatures prove hostile, I approached them.

I started this card by colouring the Just Some Lines image “Voodoo Doll - Everyone Needs a Friend, using my trusty Prismacolor pencils. The candy pieces were cut using Create-a-Critter 2 whilst the candy border was cut using the Artbooking cartridge which I recently acquired in a Guild Raid last month. The sentiment I printed off my computer, earning me +496 technological exp points.

On the inside I printed the top sentiment from my computer again. The bottom one is a Unity stamp and the candy corn I cut out of a scrap of the patterned paper that I used on the front.

I stamped the envelope using the Dylusions “Further Around the Edge” set. Spooky. 
 
These candy kids will munch on into the following challenges:

It turns out they were enchanted dolls, escaped from a child’s house who had been dabbling in magics she didn’t understand. The child must have been talking about the Night of Sweet Delights to the dolls, who got confused thinking it was already happening. I invited them into the Guild Hall to see if we could find a settlement for the wayward pair.

That Pins and Needles Feeling

Today a raven arrived from the distant village of Stitchenton calling the Crafters Guild to arms. A black mage had shown up in the village and was causing all sorts of dark problems for the smallfolk. The Lady Commander of Copics and I prepared the weapons whilst the Guardian of Glitter packed a generous supply of elixirs and mana potions; I had a feeling we would be using an abundance of spells. As we rode up to the village entrance, night had already fallen and the black mage was waiting for us.
“Do you think your pathetic spells can defeat my dark magiks?” the mage spat, blue sparkes crackling at his fingertips. He tossed a green poppet at us, mumbling an incantation. I was confused as to why he was hurling dolls at us until it suddenly began to grow. The small poppet, pins sticking out of it, didn’t stop growing until it was as tall as the giants of Fenrall Hills!

I started this card by colouring the Just Some Lines Voodoo Doll image using my trusty Prismacolor pencils. I then used the Inkadinkado “Voodoo Doll” set that I picked up in a recent guild raid and stamped the little pins in the background. I also used that set for the sentiment. I used my Cuttlebug and a Tim Holtz folder to emboss the green panel for +88 bumpy exp points. I was actually amazed that bow worked out so nicely. I just held some orange ribbon and black ribbon together, tied and hoped for the best. Well my spell of knots must have worked, because I was pretty impressed with the end result.

I decorated the inside using the “Voodoo Doll” set again. The sentiment is from some cheap-o stamp I got out of the dollar bin at Michaels quite a few years ago.

I did up the envelope with the “Voodoo Doll” set, earning +55 black magic exp points.

This evil poppet will perform his magic in the following challenges:

It was a harsh battle. The doll kept using a voodoo spell that would sap HP from us and transfer it to him. With some fancy die rolls and lots of elixirs, we were able to finally defeat the stitched fiend. When it shrunk back down to regular doll size though, the black mage was no longer there! Now the hunt was on…

Tag Along to the Caverns

Welcome to the Guild Hall. Today the Lady Commander of Copics and I travelled to the snow covered land of Oakmont Glade in search of some sparkle flakes that we could use to create more magical potions. As we trudged through the deep snow, trying to read our tattered map in the blustering wind, a snowflake nymph glided up beside us, riding her magical snowflake.
“You all look a little lost. And cold,” she said eyeing Angela’s red cheeks and chattering teeth.
“We are in search of sparkle flakes, but seem to have taken a wrong turn in this storm,” I said holding up our worn map.
“Follow me. You can warm up until this storm passes, and then I’ll show you to the sparkle flake caverns,” the purple-haired nymph said. She zoomed off to the north and the Lady Commander and I gladly followed, anticipating a fire and thawing our frozen limbs.

I started this tag by making the background. I swiped three different shades of Distress Ink on my craft mat, sprayed them generously with water and wiped the tag through. I dried it with my heat gun of +400 whooshiness and repeated that process two more times to get the look I wanted. I then used a Unity snowflake stamp and smashed that all over the tag to complete the background.
I coloured the cute Birdie Brown “Lala” image using my Prismacolors and cut her out. She looked to me like she was riding something, so I cut a snowflake out using the Artbooking cartridge and glued her on. Weeeeeeee!
I cut another snowflake using Artbooking again and covered it with ice stickles earning myself +110 sparkly exp points and going up a glittery level! The sentiment I stamped using the My Pink Stamper “Christmas Wishes” set.

After letting us warm up and waiting for the raging snow storm to pass, the snowflake nymph lead us to the sparkle flake cavern so we could gather our boon. I gave her my thanks and told her to send a raven to the Guild Hall should she ever need the assistance of the Crafters Guild.
