Masquerade Full of Daggers

Tonight the Lady Commander of Copics and I attended a formal masquerade at the Earl of Adhesives grand villa. This annual event was held to mark the beginning of our final thirty-one days in the sun cycle. The costumes were a brilliant sight to behold, but unfortunately with the added anonymity, the chance for danger was high. As such, I had designed my gown to conceal two large daggers I wore on my thighs.   

This card was created for the Creative Card Crew “Birthday with a Sentiment” challenge that is happening now. Make a project that fits this theme for a chance to win a prize from our sponsors, Marianne Design and Delicious Doodles!

 

I started this card by colouring in the Delicious Doodles “Venetian Beauty” image using Prismacolor Pencils, adding some gems as accents. I then stamped and heat embossed the “celebrate” sentiment, which is a Unity stamp. The bottom sentiment, from the My Creative Time “Wow! So Many Candles” set, was stamped onto a shape cut using the Art Philosophy cartridge.

Last I decided to earn a bonus +80 sparkle XP points and used my Wink of Stella pen on the mask from some extra bling. It was however extremely difficult to photograph this glittery goodness.

The inside I stamped with a Close to My Heart sentiment. The edges were stamped using the Crafty Secrets “Glamour Girls” set.

The envelope was stamped with a couple other images from the “Glamour Girls” set.

Spring Fae Try To Ruin The Day

Greetings and welcome to the Guild Hall. Today the temperatures soared to record heights and it seems as though Spring may have finally come to stay. As I was cleaning the grounds, which were finally clear of snow, I was visited by a Spring fairy. She appeared suddenly, sitting upon the fence post swinging her legs and twirling her butterfly umbrella. I do not trust the fae, as they usually have something sinister planned, so I kept my eye on her while going about my business.

I started this card by colouring the Lacy Sunshine “Emily's Monarch Butterfly Umbrella” image using my Prismacolor pencils and carefully cutting her out. The sentiment I stamped using the My Creative Time “Wow! So Many Candles” set. I don’t usually use flowers on my projects, but I received those two as a “bonus gift” in one of my Unity stamp orders and thought with that orangey coloured brad they matched this project, so decided to slap those on there, earning myself +111 floral XP points.

On the inside I used some leftovers of the paper I cut for the front and stamped the sentiment using the Crafty Secrets “Glamour Girls” set.

The envelope was stamped with a butterfly from my vast Unity collection. I quickly added some colour to it using Distress Markers and my waterbrush.

After about fifteen minutes she called out to me, “You seem thirsty. Perhaps you would like a refreshing beverage after all that hard work.”

“No thank you, fairy,” I replied, knowing better than to accept food or drink from a member of the fae.

She stared at me hard, her green eyes boring into mine. With a scowl, she disappeared, perhaps upset she didn’t find a victim for her trickery today.

An Unseen Sorrow on Four Legs

Today the Lady Commander of Copics, Guardian of Glitter and I made an attempt at the Quest of Unseen Sorrow. We had tried a run at this one a few months back, but were not at a high enough level to beat the monsters. Well thanks to our many crafty quests we've completed, we've since leveled up and feel ready for another go. With my new enchanted sword, Frostbite, I was confident in our success. The Lady Commander thought it prudent to bring along her feline familiar, Ronin, thinking she could use him as a bonus to her attack points. I think he would be more adept at adding miscreant points...

I started this card by cutting out the postage stamp shape using the Art Philosophy cartridge. I then stamped the cute little girl with The Greeting Farm’s “Furever” set and coloured her in using Prismacolor pencils (I did paper piece her jacket and ribbons). I cut the hearts out using the Doodlecharms cartridge and added them around the stamp. The sentiment I stamped using the My Creative Time “Wow! So Many Candles” set.

On the inside I stamped the sentiment using the My Pink Stamper “Birthday Crazy” set and added the hearts from the Unity “Loads of Love” kit.

I stamped the envelope with that circle stamp from Unity...I have named it “Crop Circles” since I have no idea what it’s called as I won it in a grab bag.

Having attempted this quest once before, I felt it was inappropriately named, as the sorrow was not unseen, us having already seen it a few months back. Ah well...despite having the trouble maker, Ronin along, we still managed to fell all the evil monsters and claim the loot at the end. Quest complete.

Search For The Dæmon

Today a raven arrived from Castle Cambric from my lord father. His feline dæmon companion, Sasha had been missing for six nights. It was not unusual for her to take off for long periods at a time, but she has never been gone for longer than a couple of days. Even though I despised that creature, I agreed to help in the search. I geared up, and me and my direwolf set out to find the blasted animal.

I made this card for my lord father, using his feline dæmon, (known to the commoners as a Siamese Cat) Sasha as inspiration. I cut the card base using the Mini Monster cartridge. Instead of the eyes that come with the cut, I decided to use some of my precious googley eyes (two different sizes of course). The number I cut using the Birthday Bash cartridge. I then used my trusty Cuttlebug and embossed the cat’s stomach piece and the numbers and punctuation before gluing them all together. Since Sasha is a little bit of a diva, I added a rhinestone necklace, earning me +429 bling-bling exp points.

The inside was stamped using My Creative Time’s “Wow! So Many Candles” set, My Pink Stamper’s “Family & Friends” set and the Lawn Fawn “On the Mend” set.

My direwolf Lycan’s superior sense of smell, combined with a few tracking spells lead us to the feline. It seemed she had bitten off more than she could chew, so to speak, and landed herself in some trouble. We found her deep within the Carnivorous Caverns, held prisoner by a band of oversized rodent tribesman. Lycan’s sharp teeth and my blade made short work of the disgusting vermin and rescued Sasha from certain death. Although my lord father was elated to have her back, she spared not a shred of gratitude towards me. Cats.

Fashionably Sassy

In the market square today there was to be a fashion show. Apparently a famous designer from across the Pearlescent Sea was here, displaying his newest designs. The Lady Commander of Copics and I decided to have a look and maybe find something to replace some of the old tunics that are getting a little worn. When we arrived, there was no mistaking who the designer was. He wore a silky black tunic and a puffy pink scarf. The man seemed rather stressed, throwing his hands up in exasperation and shouting orders at his troupe of halflings. 

I created this card by stamping The Greeting Farm’s “Sunday” image on several patterned papers and painstakingly cutting his clothes and hair out to paper piece him together. I used the Art Philosophy cartridge to cut the large “stamp” border and embossed the edge piece with my Cuttlebug. I used the Rock Princess cartridge for the stars. 

Earning myself +183 sparkly exp points, I added some glitter to the stars and some square shaped gems to each corner of the card. The sentiment I stamped using the Dylusions “Say It How It Is” set.

On the inside I used another postage stamp cut from Art Philosophy and some stars I had left over. The sentiments were stamped using the My Creative Time “Wow! So Many Candles” set and the My Pink Stamper “Birthday Crazy” set respectively. 

I stamped the envelope to coordinate with the card. The green is a little “off”, but it was the closest match I had to the neon green I used on the card.

The Lady Commander of Copics and I didn’t end up purchasing anything as the fashions that were on display were a little too impractical for our needs. We did however enjoy the “show” as we sipped on tea at a nearby cafe and watched as the diva designer lost his cool on everyone he encountered.

Mad Morgdan's Mushroomy Birthday

Welcome to the Guild Hall. The Lady Commander of Copics and I have just returned from our quest in the Mushroom Hills. We went in search of a rare and mystical mushroom that would increase the size of whomever ingested it. Unfortunately, we did not come across that mushroom, but a colony of sentient mushrooms who were in the midst of hosting a nameday celebration for an odd chap named Morgdan. It was a strange sight to behold as Morgdan danced amongst the scared looking mushrooms by himself to non-existent music.

I created this card for my little brother’s 25th nameday. I started by making the background using a stamp from the Tim Holtz “Reflections” stamp set that is full of background stamps in “mirror writing”. I also used a few stamps from the Dylusions “Bordering on the Edge” set to complete the background. Next I used the Lawn Fawn “Say Cheese” set to stamp the polaroid. I stamped the Stampotique “Hunk” image and coloured him with Distress Markers. I felt he needed a birthday hat, so used the Dylusions “Doolally Dorris” set to stamp one out for him. I then used the Dylusions “Further Around the Edge” set to add the borders next to Hunk. The sentiment came from the My Creative Time’s “Wow! So Many Candles” set. To finish off the card, I stamped some random wings and mushrooms from the “Doolally Dorris” set. I decided the mushrooms needed some googley eyes and was instantly pleased with myself for making this decision. It also earned me +291 anthropomorphization exp points.

On the inside I stamped some more little mushrooms and gave one wings using a moustache I turned upside down from Dylusions “Christmas Accessories” set. The sentiment is from the My Pink Stamper “Birthday Crazy” set. I actually posted the card on time, however my brother is not known for checking his mail on a regular basis, so I was anticipating him not seeing it until after his birthday had passed (lol).

I went a little mushroom crazy with this card and stamped a whole bunch more on the envelope to make it match the front of the card.

The Lady Commander and I started to get the impression that Morgdan wasn’t quite right in the head as he started snapping pictures of himself and giving them to the now terrified mushrooms. We slowly backed away from the spectacle and fled the Mushroom Hills for the sanity of the Guild Hall.

"Pots" of Surprises on the Way

As the last of the snow melts away and sprouts of grass are struggling to free themselves from the long winter frost, the bugbelles have also returned from wherever ‘tis they retire to during the frozen months. These interesting creatures are part fairy and part insect, choosing to take up residence in various flora. I’m unsure what purpose they serve in the overall ecosystem, but they are good for a rousing game of Fuzion Frenzy.

I started this card by cutting the flower pot out using the Freshly Picked cartridge, embossing some of the layers with my Cuttlebug. I stamped the girl using the Dylusions “Pondering Petunia” set, placing her behind the pot. The banner I stamped using the Lawn Fawn “Bannerific” set, adding a sentiment from Lawn Fawn’s “Sophie’s Sentiments” set. The background was this weird fibery-fabric paper I got at the Everything-For-One-Brass-Coin stand at the the market square. Now it may appear that all is conventional, but I didn’t really assemble the flower pot exactly as shown in the book....

*Gaaaaaaaasp* The flowers come out! I actually cut the blossoms away from the rest of the pot and adhered them to a rectangular base. With some clever use of pop dots, I was able to make the flowers go “in” the pot, allowing them to be pulled out. This earned me +281 innovation exp points. The sentiment I stamped using the My Creative Time “Wow! So Many Candles” set. The only bad thing about this card, is if you were to mail it to someone, they would likely never know the flowers came out! You kind of have to give it to them in person ;)

On the inside I stamped some sentiments using the My Pink Stamper “Birthday Crazy” set and the Lawn Fawn “Sophie’s Sentiments” set. I then stamped and paper pieced the gnome using the Lawn Fawn “Gnome Sweet Gnome” set.

After I lost 7 games of Fuzion Frenzy in a row to the ladybug bugbelle, I kicked her out of the Guild Hall. I am now convinced that the bugbelles retire to somewhere they can play videogames all winter long to sharpen their skills...no one - human OR fairy - should be that good at Fuzion Frenzy.
