A Lovely Investigation

As the Lady Commander of Copics is absent, having flown by hippogriff to the sandy beaches of Floundering Reef, I was left on my own to investigate the ominous warning I received last week about the Festival of Hearts. In the relative safety of my crafting chambers, I summoned a lyubov fairy. She appeared on the edge of my desk, swinging her little legs back and forth as she gazed up at me curiously.

This card was created for the Just Some Lines January Challenge that is happening now. Our theme this month is Favourite Colour Combo. I chose to use pink and brown as I love how these two colours look together.

I started off by colouring the Just Some Lines image using Distress Markers and my fabled Hydrabrush of +20 wetness. The background was made using this weird textured, fibrey paper I purchased at Michaels and rubbing it in Worn Lipstick and Vintage Photo DI...soooooo...turns out when you spray water on those two colours, it sorta turns a tad orangey. Ooopsies. The Vintage Photo ended up looking a little more like the Tea Dye colour. I definitely would’ve liked it a little more browner in the background, but I liked the pattern of the ink, so decided to keep it. The word was cut out using the Create-a-Critter 2 cartridge and the hearts in the background were stamped using the Unity “Loads of Love” set.

On the inside I stamped more Unity hearts and a Unity sentiment. The bottom sentiment came from the Lawn Fawn “My Silly Valentine” set.

I stamped the envelope using the same hearts to tie everything together, earning me +90 knotted exp points....from the tying....knots....ya.....nevermind...

This inky card will run into the following challenges:

I asked the lyubov fairy if she knew anything of the warning the love sprites had uttered, bribing her with stale candy hearts I had found in the back of the pantry, clearly left over from last year. She was unable to resist the sugary heart shaped messages and was soon spilling the beans on a plot hatched by the infamous wizard, Black Soot-Ture, to ruin the Festival of Hearts once and for all. Now that I knew who was behind it all, I simply had to concoct a plan to defeat him.
