Underwater Scavenge

Salutations, traveller. The last week has been unbearably hot, everyone in the Guild Hall trying to find new ways to keep cool. The Guardian of Glitter and I were elated when we received a crafty quest from the Borealis Clan of Merpeople, giving us an excuse to venture into the cool Pearlescent Sea. We gathered the necessary underwater gear, loaded up on lightning spells, and made for the water’s edge.

So I’m not going to lie. I had real issues with this image. If you visit the Guild Hall on a regular basis, you know that I primarily colour with Prismacolors (and sometimes Distress Markers). I don’t own any alcohol markers. I also have yet to find a sharpener that will get my Prismas to a fine point again (if anyone has suggestions as to what they use, PLEASE leave me a comment). As such, colouring this image was completely impossible for me...unless I wanted to print it out on an 8.5” x 11” sheet of paper :/ So...I had to come up with another way to use it which didn’t involve sloppy colouring with semi-blunt coloured pencils. Distress Inks and water to the rescue. I was actually SHOCKED that the printer ink from the image didn’t run all over the place. With that problem (sorta) solved, I moved onto the rest of the card.

The background paper I used is incredibly sparkly, but really hard to photograph so you can see the sparkles. I ran a piece of vellum through my Cuttlebug (another experiment - I actually expected it to rip), using a folder that reminded me of bubbles. The shells and star I cut out using the Create-a-Critter cartridge and glued a small pearl on each one. The sentiment and coins were stamped using the There She Goes “Shiver Me Timbers” set.

On the inside I stamped a simple sentiment using the My Pink Stamper “Birthday Crazy” set. I then added the bubbles around it with the Crafty Secrets “Couple of Cuties” set, and earned +333 water magic XP points, allowing me to level up one of my water based spells.

The envelope was stamped with the same bubbles to make it all matchy match.

The Guardian of Glitter and I gratefully entered the blissfully cool waters, making sure to cast the appropriate spell which would allow us to breathe underwater. Once we got our bearings, we set off in the direction of the Salty Peacock Reef where the little mer-princess had disappeared. The king and queen of the Borealis Clan feared for her safety, so it was imperative that we made haste. If we happened to scavenge some rare underwater elements and ingredients whilst down there...well...these spells and potions don’t make themselves…

Puns of Love

With the help of my fellow Guildys, we were able to flush out the traitor in the Guild Hall - a new house gnome named Krunkle. It appears I will have to vet new additions to the Guild Hall more thoroughly. Once he had been removed and was no longer sending messages to the evil wizard, Black Soot-Ture, we were able to get in touch with the ragdoll clan who had sent us the hidden message in the stitchy pig, and fell the nefarious fiend effectively saving the Festival of Love. With the holiday no longer in peril, everyone was able to enjoy the day of love, exchanging Valentines and mushy sentiments. 

I created this set of card to distribute to the girls in my office, cutting the base for them out using the Art Philosophy cartridge. I made a little envelope for each one using the hearts from the Unity “Loads of Love” set and left them on the girls’ desks along with a little chocolate :)

The sheep was cut using the Create-a-Critter cartridge and embossed with a swirly embossing folder and my Cuttlebug. I stamped the banner using the Lawn Fawn “Bannerific” set. The sentiment is from the Unity “Love Ewe” itty bitty. (Hooray for puns).

On the inside I stamped the sentiment and the adorable sheep using the There She Goes “Poultry in Motion” set. The Happy Valentine’s is from the Lawn Fawn “My Silly Valentine” set. It is actually the only stamp I have that says Happy Valentine’s Day, so you will see it inside all these cards.

Next I cut this cute owl out using Create-a-Critter 2. The banner is again stamped with “Bannerific”. The sentiment is from the Unity “You Always” itty bitty. 

On the inside I stamped an owl using the Lawn Fawn “Critters in the Forest” set. The top sentiment is from the Lawn Fawn mini “You’re a Hoot” set.

The snake on this card was cut using Create-a-Critter. He actually has a birthday hat on, but I trimmed that part off, since it really wasn’t applicable to this card. Another banner again from “Bannerific” was stamped with a couple sentiments from the There She Goes “Zoo-Pendous” set. 

On the inside I stamped the snake from the “Zoo-Pendous” set and “hi” using a Unity stamp.

Next up was this tree that I cut using Create-a-Critter 2. It’s actually supposed to have snow on it, but I just left that layer off and instead cut some hearts to make it more Valentines-y, earning myself +88 transmogrification XP points. The sentiment was stamped on a banner from “Bannerific” using the Lawn Fawn “Critters in the Forest” set.

On the inside I stamped the sentiment using a Unity stamp and added the pine tree on the side with the “Critters in the Forest” set.

This tree will lose its needles in the following challenges:

This giant apple was cut using Create-a-Critter and embossed with the swiss dots folder and my Cuttlebug. The sentiment was stamped using “My Silly Valentine”.

The sentiment on the inside is from the Unity “Nicest Place to Be” itty bitty. The apples on the bottom are also from the Lawn Fawn “My Silly Valentine” set.

This apple will roll into the following challenge:

On the last card I cut the banana using the Create-a-Critter cartridge and embossed him with the swiss dots folder. The sentiment was stamped using the “My Silly Valentine” set and it baaaaaarely fit on that banner, which is the largest one in the “Bannerific” set. 

On the inside I stamped the sentiment using the Lawn Fawn “Love ‘n Breakfast” and “Smitty’s ABCs” sets. The banana on the bottom was also from “My Silly Valentine”.

I am glad we were able to save the Festival of Love and rid the Guild Hall of its traitor. [QUEST COMPLETE]. Hopefully we will be able to have a few days rest until the realm once again needed saving….but I doubt it.

Follow the Herd

Good day and welcome to the Guild Hall. Don’t mind the straw strewn about. We just returned from a quest over at Natsume Farm. The proprietor had sent a raven to the Crafters Guild earlier today, imploring us to assist him, as someone had stolen all his animals! We donned our armour, grabbed our weapons and rode west to the large farm. The young farmer was in quite a state when we arrived, clearly concerned for not only his animals' safety, but for the loss of revenue that their absence was causing. I lead my direwolf Lycan into the barn so he could collect their scent and then released him. After sniffing the ground for a bit, he took off, following the scent of the stolen animals.   

This was created for the Creative Card Crew’s “Down on the Farm” challenge that is happening now! Create a farm themed project and you could win a $15 gift voucher to Scrapping Center!

 

I made this card for a lady I work with. She lives on a farm with numerous animals (including a buffalo), so decided to make her a farm themed card. I started by cutting the horse and cow out using the Create-a-Critter cartridge and the buffalo using the Birthday Bash cartridge. You may think I stamped a “50” on his skate because the card recipient is turning 50...well....you would be wrong {lol}. I stamped the “50” because her actual buffalo is named “50 Bucks” as that is how much she paid for him ($50). Oh...and she noticed the 50 right away and loooooved that little touch :) Anyways...I digress...the farm house/barn I cut out using the Country Life cartridge and embossed it with my Cuttlebug before gluing it together, earning myself +202 texturization exp points and leveling up! I adhered the animals and the house using different thicknesses of pop dots to create dimension. I then stamped the sentiment using the My Pink Stamper “Birthday Crazy” set. Some ribbon and a sunflower button I’ve had in my stash foreeeeever finished off the front.

On the inside I stamped the sentiment using the Lawn Fawn “On the Mend” and “Harold’s ABCs” sets. I then decorated the edges using the Dylusions “Further Around the Edge” set. I wanted to leave enough white space for everyone to sign.

Which they did!

I used the same Dylusions border stamp around the edge of the envelope to make everything match wonderfully.

One Crazy Stamper August Birthday Challenge

We eventually came across the animals in a small apple grove. There didn’t appear to be anyone else around, but they had clearly been taken as they were all tethered to trees. Whilst the Lady Commander of Copics watched our backs, the Guardian of Glitter and I untied the animals and led them back to Natsume farm. It was suspicious that there was no one about and I told the young farmer to perhaps get a guard dog, or someone to stand watch over his flock by night, should the thief return to finish the job. The whole thing seemed kind of "off" to me and I had a feeling this wasn't the end of it...

Deadly Pirate-Pus of the Salty Ocean

Today the Lady Commander of Copics and I commissioned a vessel to sail us across the Salty Ocean in search of the vicious pirate-pus who has been destroying travelling ships for the past moon’s turn. Folk are scared to sail and it is causing a shortage of food as the fishing crews refuse to risk death sailing the now deadly waters. It didn’t take long before we spotted the giant sea creature rising from the depths, a giant pirate hat atop his head. 

I started this card by cutting the adorable octopus out using Create-A-Critter. I then embossed the blue cardstock with a folder that reminded me of waves, earning me +392 texturization exp points and allowing me to level up! Woot. The sentiment came from my own crazy head and I printed it on kraft cardstock (because I thought it looked like beachy sand) using my computer. I rounded the corners of the blue and kraft paper with my corner rounder punch (probably my most used punch), while some buttons and ribbon finished off this watery delight.

A fierce battle ensued, the Lady Commander unleashing a flurry of ranged lightning based magic spells and me loosing arrow after arrow from my Great Bow, Fungi. Eventually the deadly pirate-pus sank back into the depths of the Salty Ocean from whence he’d came. Where he procured that giant pirate hat still remains a mystery.

A Split Personality

Salutations. Today I had the displeasure of dealing with a raging splitster demon. I received a raven from Gamsolton requesting aid after the demon wandered into the village and started creating problems for the townsfolk. These demons are particularly difficult to control due to their split personalities. One minute they can be charming you, and the next thing you know there’s a dirk through your belly. 

So here is the story with this crazy card. My siblings and I decided to get our parents tickets to see Jerry Seinfeld. But because they are kind of expensive, we split it between a Father’s Day gift and my mom’s birthday present. Instead of making two separate cards (because that would be too normal), I decided to make one card with a split personality. So here we go.

I started by stamping The Greeting Farm’s “Sunday” and “Sasha” images and chopping them down the middle, earning me +193 two-faced exp points. I then coloured them using Prismacolor pencils, trying to keep their colour scheme similar. Setting those aside I folded my gatefold card and picked out some papers for each side. I wanted it to look like two separate cards if you viewed the halves individually, with only the people to "tie to together".

I cut the letters using the Birthday Bash cartridge and using a white gel pen added some dashes. I decided the Sasha side didn't look birthday-ie enough, so I cut some balloons using the Create-A-Critter cartridge. It still looked too plain to me so I stamped the Unity “One Night Only” image and cut it out to add to each side of the card.

So...I apologize. I forgot to take the picture before writing in all our names; I was so excited when I was finished this card (it took a reeeeeeeeeally long time to make). Inside I stamped the sentiment(s) then added the Unity “Better Together” image to represent my mom and dad on a date {lol}. On the bottom I made a pocket and decorated it using the Unity “Misplaced Chevron” stamp. Still looked too plain, so I added the word bubble from the Unity “Hiya Gorgeous” set and some lols from The Greeting Farm’s “Special Autumn” set. 

I then made these tickets to put in the pocket. I stamped the “One Night Only” image again and this time stamped in red the actual date of the show, what the show was and who it was for. You can’t tell from the picture, but I used my perforating blade on the edges of these tickets and where it says “save this stub this is your receipt”. (I don’t even think my parents noticed that detail). Oh well.

I rode into Gamsolton and after some digging around located the splitster demon. It cast a +55 charm spell, but luckily I had swallowed some tango-root beforehand, anticipating this move, so it didn’t affect me. One strike with my blade, Kraft Knife, was all it took to send the creature back from whence it came.
