An Uneventful Journey of Joy

Today the Lady Commander of Copics and I were travelling to the great city of the money changers, where all the tax collectors resided. We were off to celebrate the Winter Festival at the estate of our Uncle, a renowned accountant of the realm. Before we left the Guild Hall, I dashed up to the crafting chambers and quickly put together a gift to present to our gracious hosts.

This wine tag was created for The Inked Stamper design team and was based on this inspiration photo.
This tag has two job classes and acts as both a wine tag and a gift card holder. I didn’t have a gift card at home, so made a stand-in for demonstrative purposes. On the block letters, I used a snow pen marker and some Iced Stickles.
To create the pocket, I simply folded the piece around the main panel and glued it all together. The whole piece was then adhered to the wine tag base. The paper cut to 7.75” x 3.75” and scored at 2.5”. The piece for the pocket was cut to 2.5” x 4.25” and then scored a quarter of an inch on each side to create the flaps to wrap around the main panel of patterned paper. I wanted the pocket a little bigger so more of that great deer paper would be showing, but didn’t want the gift card drowning in the pocket, so when gluing it together I put glue on the entire bottom half (1.25”) so the gift card could stick out the top.


This tag will pull double duty in the following challenges:
The journey to the great city of the money changers was surprisingly uneventful. Angela and I arrived just in time to partake in the great feast of our ancestors consisting of the traditional twelve meatless dishes. We were sent home with a great many leftovers, which we loaded onto the horses in preparation for the ride back to the Guild Hall. ‘Tis the season of the feast.

Red Nosed Indeed

As we were leaving the dwarven city, our satchels filled with newly acquired loot, the Lady Command of Copics, Guardian of Glitter and I came across an unusual sight. We had just emerged from the underground caverns when we heard what sounded like a rowdy party in the nearby forest. Curious, we followed the noise only to come across nine reindeer completely drunk on wine.

This wine tag was created for The Inked Stamper design team and was based on this inspiration photo.
For this wine tag, I stamped and paper pieced the reindeer using the Dylusions “Christmas Accessories” set. I cut the paper to 8.5” x 2.75” and scored at 2.5”. I used a 2” circle punch for the hole because it is literally the only circle punch I own, but I think a smaller one would be better - 1.5” would probably be perfect. The sentiment was stamped with the Dylusions “Christmas Words” set. If this was used on a bottle of vodka, rye, or any other spirit it would really level up the Pun damage of this tag. It’s hard to tell from the picture, but the rectangle of wood paper was cut using the Lawn Fawn “Stitched Rectangles” die set.
This wine tag will sass up the following challenges:
As we peered through the bushes at the unruly bunch, I noticed that one of the reindeer had a blazing red nose. Either he was a chronic drinker, or this was the infamous Rudolph. If the latter, this could spell disaster for the Winter Festival which was scheduled for tomorrow night!

The Joy of Looting

Today the Lady Commander of Copics, Guardian of Glitter and I were exploring the abandoned underground city of the dwarves, looking for treasure and loot...because that’s what adventurers do, when we came across an oddity. Amongst all the rocks and stone archways, there stood a small wooden door. Stuffing a newly acquired gem into my bag-of-holding, I approached the door. Carved into the wood was the word “joy”.

This wine tag was created for The Inked Stamper design team and was based on this inspiration photo.
I cut the paper to 8.5” x 2.75” and scored at 2.5”. I used a 2” circle punch for the hole because it is literally the only circle punch I own, but I think a smaller one would be better - 1.5” would probably be perfect. The snowflake for this was cut using the Lawn Fawn “Stitched Snowflakes” die set and the letters were cut with the Lawn Fawn “Finley’s ABCs” die set. The borders I cut using the Art Philosophy cartridge. The red looked a little blah, so I used a white gel pen to spruce it up a little, earning +50 accent XP points.
This tag will jingle some joy into the following challenges:
“What say you, Guild Master? Should we open it?” the Lady Commander asked.
“We should at least knock,” the Guardian of Glitter said, running her fingers over the carved word.
I knocked twice rapidly. There was no response. Shrugging my shoulders I tried the door handle. Locked. I extracted my lock picking kit from my satchel and Nikki shot me a look.
“What?! There could be loot in here!” I exclaimed.
A rogue at heart, I wasn’t about to let possible loot slip away, and proceeded to work on the lock.

Paws in the Woods

Today I decided to take my direwolf on a leisurely stroll through Birch Haven Woods for some exercise as he’s been penned up after his paw injury. Birch Haven Woods is a good forest for this sort of thing, as it is devoid of any high level monsters. As my companion bounded along the snowy trail, enjoying being outside, I was hopeful that his paw had now healed. Eventually we came to a clearing in the woods where there were a few forest creatures decorating for the upcoming Winter Festival. By the looks of things, it appeared they may have pilfered a few items from someone’s Holly Festival haul.

All the stamped images on this are from the Lawn Fawn “Joy to the Woods” set. I stamped everything onto watercolour paper and watercoloured them with Distress Markers and my Hydrabrush of +90 wetness. I then used the coordinating die set to cut all the images out, which greatly speeds up the process and earned me +444 bonus speed XP.

I had used some patterned paper from the Lawn Fawn “Sweater Weather” 6x6 pad, but decided the colour was a little intense, so I used a piece of vellum overtop to mute it. This created an issue, as attaching vellum can be difficult if you don’t want ugly adhesive showing (and who wants that). So the vellum is only glued down on the top and bottom - underneath the borders - the middle is floating.
I used the snow marker to add some snow to the tree branches, and really loved how it turned out. I see a lot of birch trees with snow on their branches in my card making future.

I created the inside by stamping the snow drift, foot prints, and sentiment from the “Joy to the Woods” set, leaving lots of space to write a personal message.

As my direwolf laid down in a snow drift, resting his paw, I decided to help the adorable forest creatures with their decorating. As glistening snow began to fall, I could hear my companion softly snoring. I smiled to myself, hanging another ornament from a birch tree.

The Model Elf

As the Winter Festival draws nigh, it appears the rotund man in red has hired some fashion model elves this year to help bolster the dwindling interest in the holiday. The Lady Commander of Copics and I spotted some of these elves working the market square in the village. They were passing out flyers to passersby, and getting irritated looks from some of the smallfolk.

Perhaps foolishly, I decided that my first The Inked Stamper design team project would be a good time to try a technique I’ve never done before - no line colouring. I started by stamping the Julie Nutting “Merry Nice” image onto watercolour paper using Antique Linen Distress ink so the lines were barely visible and easily blended away, earning +70 stealth XP points. I then watercoloured the image using Distress Markers and my Hydrabrush of Blending Wetness. After the sentiment was stamped with Festive Berries Distress Ink I went over it with my water brush to soften the lines.

I used the same snow marker in the inspiration photo to add some fluff to her hat and falling snow around her. The base of the card was cut using the Artiste cartridge.

On the inside I stamped the sentiment using the There She Goes “Tis the Season” set.

This card will be entered into the following challenges:

 As the day wore on, the market square was soon littered with red and green flyers the townspeople had tossed on the ground, scarcely glancing at them. The elves were not deterred however, and continued to pass them out. Before leaving the village, I sent word to a mage I know who specializes in organizational and clean up spells. The market square was going to need it.
