Creeping Christmas

Today the Guardian of Glitter and I had to head to Punchington to help them out with a zombie infestation. The ghouls started showing up two days ago and now the village was in a complete lockdown as the undead swarm the streets. It is a miracle they were able to release the raven sending us their cry for help.

This week the theme at Wicked Wednesday is “Happy Creepy Holidays” Make an ATC that goes with this theme for a chance to win a prize from our sponsors, Delicious Doodles and Smeared Ink! Masquerade Full of Daggers

Tonight the Lady Commander of Copics and I attended a formal masquerade at the Earl of Adhesives grand villa. This annual event was held to mark the beginning of our final thirty-one days in the sun cycle. The costumes were a brilliant sight to behold, but unfortunately with the added anonymity, the chance for danger was high. As such, I had designed my gown to conceal two large daggers I wore on my thighs.   

This card was created for the Creative Card Crew “Birthday with a Sentiment” challenge that is happening now. Make a project that fits this theme for a chance to win a prize from our sponsors, Marianne Design and Delicious Doodles!

 

I started this card by colouring in the Delicious Doodles “Venetian Beauty” image using Prismacolor Pencils, adding some gems as accents. I then stamped and heat embossed the “celebrate” sentiment, which is a Unity stamp. The bottom sentiment, from the My Creative Time “Wow! So Many Candles” set, was stamped onto a shape cut using the Art Philosophy cartridge.

Last I decided to earn a bonus +80 sparkle XP points and used my Wink of Stella pen on the mask from some extra bling. It was however extremely difficult to photograph this glittery goodness.

The inside I stamped with a Close to My Heart sentiment. The edges were stamped using the Crafty Secrets “Glamour Girls” set.

The envelope was stamped with a couple other images from the “Glamour Girls” set.

A Sciencey Solution

A couple weeks ago, I acquired an enchanted embellishment from the Pre Winter Festival Fair. Since then I have been working tirelessly to no avail to figure out its power. After toiling for a fortnight in the crafting chambers, the Lady Commander of Copics suggested we take the bespelled bauble to Keapon Laffin’s lab and see if he could break the spell using his science.

I started this by colouring the Delicious Doodles “Halloweenie Crazy Chemist” image using Prismacolor pencils. The frame he comes with was simply too intricate for me to colour with my pencils (which I am unable to sharpen back to a sharp point...anyone with tips on what sharpener they use for this, please leave a comment; I still haven’t completed that quest), so I cut him out.

The background I stamped with the Lawn Fawn “Science of Love” and heat embossed it with some pearl heat embossing powder. I then coloured the beakers and tubes in (using Prismacolors) with the same colour liquid as the crazy scientist was holding. The sentiment I printed off on my computer and cut out. I first saw this sentiment when I was shopping on ThinkGeek and it makes me laugh every time I hear it, which also netted me +101 hilarious XP points. Last I added some red, orange and black twine to make it all matchy-match.

Watching the crazed scientist work, the Lady Commander and I found ourselves taking cover as explosions of colours and powders shook his lab. In the end, Keapon Laffin’s scientific experiments could not unravel the mystery of the new shiny. Dejected, my sister and I went back to the Guild Hall, deciding to shelve that task for another day.

Pirate's Life For Me

Today I found the Lady Commander of Copics at the harbour, booking passage aboard a ship to take her to the Floundering Reef where she would search for the Duke of Dies who failed to arrive at the Guild Hall the other day. When I saw the captain of the vessel, I was agast. A beautiful woman with curly black hair cascading down her back stood upon the ship, ordering her deck hands to prepare to disembark. Her right eye was covered with a patch and she wore a sword at her hip.

“That is most definitely a pirate,” I said to my sister.

“Well obviously. But what choice do I have? I am but a poor adventurer. I haven’t the gold coins to book passage upon a proper passenger ship.”

“But…a pirate ship? There is sure to be danger. Who knows if they will even take you to the Floundering Reef!” I exclaimed.

“That is where they are headed. They found an old treasure map and it leads them to the reef. All I have to do is cast a simple location spell when we get there, and they are letting me come along for free.”

I started this card by colouring the Delicious Doodles “Gothicka” image using Prismacolor pencils, blending them with Gamsol. The map I stamped using the There She Goes “Shiver Me Timbers” set, cutting it out and inking it with Distress Ink to make it look old and more...mappy. The sentiment also came from the “Shiver Me Timbers” set and earned me +244 punny XP points.

On the inside I stamped the top sentiment using the There She Goes “Ship Happens” set and the bottom one using the My Pink Stamper “Friends and Family” set.

The envelope I crafted using some patterned paper and my scoreboard of great creasing. I slapped a blank address label to the front so you could actually write someone’s name or address on it.

I worried about this arrangement that the Lady Commander had worked out with the shady looking captain of the pirate ship. The fact that she wore a crown with a skull, surely meant that there would be trouble on this voyage but nothing I said would convince the Lady Commander to stay and simply send a raven to the Duke of Dies. I silently cast a protection spell upon her as I waved from the docks, watching the pirate ship sail away, wondering if this was the last I would see of my dear sister.

A Wet Quest

The time has finally arrived. Tomorrow the Guardian of Glitter and I depart on our quest to Icy Land. I sent a raven ahead to some of my contacts there so we would have some semblance of a plan before we arrived to hasten the success our quest. When I received the return reply, I was surprised to see that one of the areas we had to explore was the underwater caverns of Silfra. The merpeople that dwell in the oceans surrounding Icy Land would be expecting us and ready to guide us during our dive.

I started this card by colouring the Delicious Doodles “Marina” image using Prismacolor pencils, adding some hi-lites with a white gel pen. I dove deep into my stash and used three patterned papers that I’ve had for a few years and have yet to cut. The sentiment is an unknown Unity stamp I got in a grab bag. I added a sprinkling of blue gems for some extra sparkle. Then came the challenge...So I didn’t have a charm to use, as I don’t use charms at all in my crafting adventures. I had to improvise, so I found a pair of ancient dolphin earrings I’ve had since I was a little kid and took one apart to use. I worked like a charm - LOL. I just earned myself +88 punny XP points there.

On the inside I stamped the sentiment using three different Unity stamps and a Close To My Heart stamp. I have no idea why that background paper looks mega purple in the picture as it’s actually quite blue. Weird.

(See blue...weird...anyways...). I have literally no underwater related stamps, so instead I used some stars from the Lawn Fawn “Critters Ever After” set to decorate the envelope.

I guess we will need more than our winter furs and armours on this trip. It appears some diving equipment will be necessary. I decided to load up on some fire and lightning based spells as well to aid us in defeating any underwater cretins we may happen upon. Let the adventure begin…

Picture Perfect Christmas

Salutations, crafty traveller. Thank you for stopping by the Guild Hall. In a mere fortnight, we shall be celebrating the great Winter Festival. With another fresh blanket of snow, the smallfolk of the village are getting more excited for the big day. All the holly the Lady Commander of Copics and I collected from Holly’s Gulch has now been transformed into Christmas decorations and hung around the village. 

This card was designed for the Creative Card Crew “Poinsettia or Holly” challenge that is happening now. This fortnight we are sponsored by Delicious Doodles. Play along to win some delicious digis!

I started this card by printing the Delicious Doodles “On a Winter’s Day” image three times. I then stamped out three polaroid images using the Lawn Fawn “Say Cheese” set. Because the Delicious Doodles image isn’t square, I chose three different squares of the image to use in each picture (for example the one I lined up on the left, one I lined up on the right and the last one I cut the square right from the middle). That way it looks kind of like someone was just snapping a bunch of different pics of the same scene in front of them and the birds are actually flying rather than in the same spot in three different shots.

I distressed the edges of the photos using Antique Linen Distress Ink, earning me +183 vintagey exp points. I used the Stretch Your Imagination cartridge to cut out the holly on some shiiiiiiiiny paper and the sentiment I stamped using the Bug Bites “Mistletoe” set.

On the inside I cut the shape out using the Art Philosophy cartridge and stamped the two sentiments using the “Say Cheese” set and the Echo Park “Holly Jolly Christmas" set.
