Holy Stitch! Hang Onto Your Buttons!

Greetings. I was asked to go on a crafty quest with the adventurers at Try it On Tuesday, using our tailor job skill points to create some sewing themed projects. Unfortunately I ran into some trouble with button eating demons, and my travel log was lost. I finally managed to recover it at a secret save point and was able to inscribe it here.

I started this card by colouring the Kraftin’ Kimmie “Lavender the Quilter” image using Prismacolor pencils, paper piecing the quilt. All the frames were die cut using the Lawn Fawn “Stitched Rectangles” set. The letters were die cut using the Lawn Fawn “Finley’s ABCs” set., earning me +90 cutty XP points. The buttons and sentiment were stamped using a Unity set.

Stuffy with a Stuffy Nose

Following the information we had received from the grumpy dancer, the Guardian of Glitter and I headed to Stuffton. The small village is home to a peaceful stuffed bear clan and we found it odd that the Duke of Dies would keep his lair so close to such a people. Although, my sister is partial to fuzzy cute things, which would easily lure her in. When we arrived in Stuffton, there was quite the commotion as one of the poor bears had taken ill and the village doctor was away, collecting more medicines from the Fuzzy Forest which was at least a two day ride away. Being that her healing skills are such a high level, the Guardian of Glitter offered to help the poor bear.

I started this ATC by stamping the Kraftin’ Kimmie “Cuddle Up & Keep Warm” image. I paper pieced his head and the patches on his blanket, colouring the rest with Prismacolors. I decided he needed to look more sick, so I stamped the band-aid from the Lawn Fawn “Get Well Soon” set onto patterned paper along with the medicine bottle. 

I used glossy accents on the bottle to make it more….glassy...and you know...bottley. This earned me +88 breakable XP points. I’d best assign them to a skill before they're ruined. The background was stamped with the steam from the Lawn Fawn “My Cup of Tea” set and the sentiment is from the Lawn Fawn “On the Mend” set.

The Guardian of Glitter was able to use her high level healing magic and help the poor sick bear, nursing him back to good fluffy health. As she had drained most her mana with this, we decided to rest the night in Stuffton and continue our search on the morrow.

The Sassy Informant

Greetings. Thank you for stopping by the Guild Hall today. The Guardian of Glitter and I are off exploring the Floundering Reef looking for signs of where the Duke of Dies has the Lady Commander of Copics locked up. Our investigating finally lead us to a derelict looking building in the slums. We had heard whispers that there was a lass here who knew where the Duke of Dies had his lair. When we opened the door to the run down shack we were surprised to see a dance studio inside with girls in tutus, practicing ballet. Nikki and I stood off to the side watching when one of the girls finally noticed us and stomped over. She was wearing a kawaii pig headed hat and a little curly pig tail could be seen poking from her skirts.

“Who’re you?” she snarled, crossing her arms over her chest.

“I’m sorry to interrupt, miss. I am Guild Master Crys…”

“Ya, ya, ya. Whatcha want?” she demanded, tapping her foot.

“We are looking for,” I consulted my parchment, “'Sugar Ganache'.”

“That’s me. Make it snappy,” the girl said, glaring at me.

I was invited to guest design over at Try it on Tuesday where the theme this week is Tags Anywhere or Just a Tag. I’m not well adept at making tags as I usually make cards, so this was truly a challenging crafty quest, but I did have fun making it and like how it turned out.

I started this tag by stamping the Kraftin’ Kimmie “Angry Ballerina” image and colouring it with Prismacolor pencils. I then worked on the background, stamping the Unity “Worn Music” image and heat embossing it. I sprayed the tag with pink Dylusions spray ink and then used a stencil and some Black Soot Distress Ink, wiping off the music notes with a baby wipe. The borders were cut using the Artbooking cartridge. Last I added the cheeky sentiment from the Dylusions “Say It How It Is” set earning myself +333 sassy XP points and leveling up!

After some prodding we were able to ascertain the location of the Duke of Dies lair thanks to Sugar’s information. After she was done with us, she stomped back to the group, her pig ears flapping as she walked, and continued on with her dancing. I had never met someone with a more ironic name - a sassy brat named Sugar - go figure.

Fairy Magical Skin Care

When the Duke of Dies didn’t show up yesterday, the Lady Commander of Copics was convinced that he had somehow found out about her skin malady. In a blind panic (literally, as she was still wearing the silly paper bag on her head), she turned to the fae for help, allowing them to cast a suspicious spell upon her they claimed would help the mysterious rash that now sprawled across her face and was spreading to her arms.

I started this ATC by stamping the Kraftin’ Kimmie “Lilybelle” image and colouring her with Distress Markers. The background I coloured with Distress Inks, earning me +40 blendy XP points. I stamped and die cut the stars and magic wand using the Lawn Fawn “Critters Ever After” set and then stamped the sentiment using the same set. I added some Ice Stickles to the wand and stars, cuz you know….glitter. Lol.

The spell sent the Lady Commander into a deep slumber, but when she awoke, her skin was clear of the rash. Happily she crumpled up the bag she had been wearing and began to pack her rucksack, intent on head to the Floundering Reef in search of the Duke of Dies. Not trusting the fae, I was concerned with what other effects the spell may have that could manifest themselves later (that’s what we call foreshadowing….)

Chalk It Up To The Accident

Today the Lady Commander of Copics and I were cleaning up after the frosty incident that transpired whilst we were creating spells when I noticed a strange sight. On the blackboard near the workbench there was a sketch of a snowman that had not been there before. I asked my sister if she had drawn the doodle and she said she hadn’t. I went to the blackboard and was about the erase the mysterious drawing when the snowperson suddenly moved and started shaking his head, a look of horror upon his frosty face.

I started this card by cutting out the black shape using the Art Philosophy cartridge. I then stamped the Kraftin’ Kimmie “Sending Winter Hugs” image and heat embossed it using white embossing powder, earning myself +50 embossing XP points. I tried using a dryer sheet to “de-static” the paper, but quite a bit of the powder still stuck to the black cardstock and is visible depending on the angle you look at the card. I’m not sure if there is a better way to do this, as I’m quite new to heat embossing. Moving along...the sentiment I stamped using the Unity “Happy Holiday Wishes” itty bitty. I used the Archival Jet Black ink, but it looks rather navy after I stamped it on the paper which was rather disappointing. Siiiiigh…. Some twine and little black snowflakes finished off this card.

The inside I stamped using the Hero Arts “Christmas Reindeer” set. 

The envelope was also stamped using snowflakes from the Christmas Reindeer set.

It seems as though this chalk drawing somehow had been given life. Perhaps it occurred during the spell creation accident. At any rate, I couldn’t just erase him away...instead I set about drawing him some nice trees and a pretty snowlady to be friends with.

Long Overdue to Find That Blade!

Continued from Can’t Quest When You’re Soy Hungry...

After leaving the random (but delicious) sushi restaurant in the middle of the Frostling Forest, our bellies now full of fish and rice, the Lady Commander of Copics and I continued our search for the trolls’ hideout where we would hopefully find the legendary Sapphire Glass Blade. After walking for about thirty minutes, we spotted a lass, tearing through the forest as though a death demon was hot on her heels. Looking behind her as she ran, the hooded girl failed to see us and crashed right into my sister, sending the basket she was holding flying out of her hands.

“What is the trouble, girl?” I inquired, my hand moving the the hilt of my blade.

“W-w-w-wolf,” she sputtered, breathing hard. 

I started this card by doing something I’ve never done before and stamping the Kraftin’ Kimmie “Little Red Riding Hood” image onto paper that was torn *gaaaaaaaaaasp* out of a book. I know, I know...but do not fret. I purchased the book for only one dollar at a book fair with the intention of using its pages for crafty endeavours. I coloured her up using Prismacolor pencils, not blending with Gamsol for fear of smearing the words. I do like how she turned out in the end. I then stamped the library card using the Lawn Fawn “Check This Out” set and stamped the words on it with the “Smitty’s ABCs” set. I also stamped the sentiment and the date stamp image using the “Check This Out” set. Riding Hood looked a little lonely, so I stamped the fox using the Lawn Fawn “Critters in the Forest” set and coloured him with Prismacolor pencils as well.

On the inside I stamped the first sentiment using the Lawn Fawn “Science of Love” set and the second one using the My Pink Stamper “Birthday Crazy” set. I stamped and die cut the cute bird from the “Science of Love” set and then stamped some books for her to stand on using the Unity “Love is in the Pages” itty bitty.

I also stamped those same books on the envelope to tie everything together and earn me +499 wisdom XP points.

I was fairly confident the Lady Commander and I could handle a measly wolf and decided to see if the girl had come across the trolls we sought while she was fleeing through the woods.

“I do remember seeing some strange creatures about one league back that way,” she replied gesturing behind her. It was the best lead we had, so bidding the girl farewell we continued in the direction she had indicated, eager to obtain the Sapphire Glass Blade.

Snow Bunny Knows the Trouble I've Seen...

Today the Lady Commander of Copics and I travelled to the far north, where the land is perpetually covered in snow, in search of the mystical Sapphire Glass Blade. This blade is said to give the wielder not only a +300 to their damage, but also a +250 colouring bonus whilst crafting. We could not pass up the chance to obtain such a legendary item. Unfortunately the further north we went, the worse the weather became and soon we were lost in a blizzard. I was just about to cast an escape spell to take us back to the Guild Hall, thus giving up on our quest, when a pair of snow bunnies came by. She could tell we were lost and offered to take us back to their village to wait out the storm. 

I started this ATC by stamping the Kraftin’ Kimmie “Let’s Go For a Ride” image onto some watercolour paper and colouring it using my Distress Markers and Hydrabrush of extreme wet blendiness. The sentiment came from the Kraftin’ Kimmie “Maxwell Snowboarding” image. 

I then stamped some snowflakes using the Lawn Fawn “Let It Snow” set and heat embossed them. Last I used a snow marker on the fluffy parts of the bunnies’ jackets and boots. This is the first time I’ve used this product and I like how it looks, but it’s hard to spread evenly on watercolour paper. I did manage to earn +60 XP points from using it though.

The snow bunnies are a peaceful group, living in seclusion in the far reaches of the north. They are not so secluded that they hadn’t heard of the Sapphire Glass Blade. The bunny who had found us, Fluffa, sketched us a map to the last known location of the blade - a hostile clan of trolls who reside deep within the Frostling Forest. Looks like we were going troll hunting.

Sales Aren't Sucking

Today the Lady Commander of Copics and I headed into town as we heard there was a new candy vendor setting up in the market square and were eager to sample his wares. As we neared the square, we saw a large group of people clustered around something and we were sure we had found the new vendor.

“Don’t you think it’s strange that all the people clustered around the sweets seller are men? I hardly see any children,” my sister remarked as we walked towards the group. She was right - there was an unusual amount of men in the crowd. In fact, it was nearly all men. As we nudged our way through the throng it soon became clear why. 

I started this card by die cutting a fancy shape using the Art Philosophy cartridge and then stamping the Kraftin’ Kimmie “Lola Lollipop” image. I coloured her up using my Prismacolor pencils of +99 rainbow strength. I really like how her hair turned out, and it earned me +129 stylist XP points. I then stamped around the edges with an Inkadinkado floral image. I stamped the big lollipop and sentiment using the Unity “Sucks to Get Old” itty bitty, paper piecing the sucker.

On the inside I printed the sentiment off my computer, taking it from the depths of my brain. I then stamped the corners with a stamp from the Unity July 2012 Kit of the Month.

The envelope was stamped with the same Inkadinkado image that I stamped around the edges of Lola Lollipop to tie everything together.

This particular candy vendor was employing a rather unusual marketing tactic, having a beautiful woman sensually sucking on the lollipops he was selling. Men were crowded around and lining up to buy the overpriced sweets on a stick.

I shook my head at the buffoons, “There’s a sucker born every minute.”

Peppermint Problems

Today I received a raven from the village of Crimson Cream. A couple nights ago a candy cane fairy had passed through the village handing out her sweet treats. Naive to the dangers of eating food of the fae, several villagers have since fallen ill. I knew their healers would not be able to help them with conventional methods; a strong magical antidote would be required. I tasked the Guardian of Glitter and Guild Apprentice Lindsay with creating the antidote while the Lady Commander of Copics and I located the candy cane fairy to destroy her before she could cause any further trouble.

This card was started by cutting the white and red shapes out using the Art Philosophy cartridge. I then stamped the Kraftin’ Kimmie “Noel” image and coloured her using Prismacolor pencils. The sentiment is the one that comes with her. Some crinkle ribbon and a couple pearly looking flowers finished off the front.

On the inside I stamped the sentiment using the Unity “Everything Christmas” kit. The candy cane in the corner is also a Unity stamp.

The envelope was stamped with the same candy cane to tie it all together and earn me +90 peppermint exp points. I’m not certain how that will be advantageous whilst questing, but I am sure to have fantastic breath.

As the Guardian of Glitter and Guild Apprentice Lindsay are very high in white healing magic, they were able to quickly craft a cure and set out to Crimson Cream to administer the tonic. Meanwhile, my sister and I had tracked the candy cane fairy to the Sticky Forest where she had taken refuge with a clan of peppermint goblins. We cast our defensive spells, drew our weapons and headed into the goblin’s lair. Unlike most lairs I have been in, this one smelled minty fresh. I idly wondered if there was a way to harvest and bottle the peppermint scent...that is until an arrow whizzed by my head, bringing me back to the task at hand...slaying foes.
