The Monster Mail Mishap

Today I went shopping in the village, taking advantage of the BOGO sale at Mikael’s Armour Emporium; a girl can never have too many pieces of coordinating armour! As I was waiting for my pieces to be wrapped, I heard some commotion from across the street. Glancing over I spotted a foursome of monster buddies arguing whilst trying to get some letters into the postbox. They were having troubles, being that they were all too short to reach the box properly. Suddenly, a gust of wind snatched up one of the letters and the orange monster squealed in horror as it sailed away. 

I started this card by stamping the Stampotique “Line Up” image, colouring it with Prismacolor pencils and then cutting all the monsters out. Setting those aside, I worked on the background. I made the sky and grass using Distress Paint, something I bought awhile ago, and never really use that much.

I then used a stencil and some silver Distress Paint to make the bubbles in the sky, which you can only see in the right light, earning me +555 shadow XP points. I stamped and paper pieced the mailbox and envelopes using the Lawn Fawn “You’ve Got Mail” set. The clouds I stamped onto patterned paper using the My Little Shoebox “Home Tweet Home” set. Last I stamped the sentiment using a Unity stamp. 

On the inside I stamped the border using the Lawn Fawn “You’ve Got Mail” set to make it look all envelopey like. The sentiment is from the My Creative Time “Wow! So Many Candles” set.

On the envelope I stamped...an envelope….weeeeeeeird….lol.

I simply had to help the adorable monster friends, so I cast a retrieve spell, calling the runaway letter to my outstretched hand. I let Mikael know I would be right back to collect my new armour and walked across the street to the panicked monsters. They sighed in relief when they saw I had retrieved their letter and I helped them insert it into the mailslot.
“Thank you, lady!” the green monster said. “That our renewal for Monster Babe Magazine.”

No Cats in the Lab!

After all the questing lately, I realized that our potion stock was running rather low. I took to the laboratory today with the Lady Commander of Copics to begin work crafting some new elixirs, tonics and mana potions for us Guildys. As usual, my sister showed up thirty minutes late and when she did finally come sauntering into the lab, she had her feline daemon, Ronin with her.
“What is that beast doing in my lab?” I demanded, pushing my safety goggles to the top of my head, smearing pink powder across my forehead in the process.
The Lady Commander looked down at Ronin, “He was lonely. Don’t worry, he won’t be any trouble,” she promised.
I pulled my goggles back down and mumbled that he was the worst behaved, most destructive creature at the Guild Hall and trouble was his middle name. 

I started this card by stamping the Stampotique “Nerd Cat” image onto kraft paper and colouring it using Prismacolor pencils. I made the glasses pink, since my own glasses are pink and this was my husband’s Valentine’s Day card. Setting that aside in a safe place, I set the work on the background. I rubbed a white piece of cardstock with Worn Lipstick Distress Ink and sprayed it with water. After drying it I used a blending tool around the edges with Picked Raspberry DI. I then used the Tim Holtz “Faded Dots” stencil and some Picket Fence Distress Paint on the background. A few circles and hearts from Unity stamps finished it off.

Next I used my brand new Lawn Fawn “Science of Love” set to stamp out the beakers and test tube and fussy cut them out after colouring them with Distress Markers. I added some glossy accents to them to make them look more glass-like, earning me +500 glossy XP points. I stamped the sentiment using that same Lawn Fawn set, mounting it on kraft paper. In my stash I had some bookmarks with the periodic table printed on them that my husband had acquired from a science conference a few years ago and given to me for crafts….well….this was the perfect opportunity to use one. I cut apart the periodic table, colouring some of the edges with DI and glued them to the background as well.

On the inside I stamped the top sentiment using the “Science of Love” set and the bottom one from the Lawn Fawn “My Silly Valentine” set.  I also used up the leftover pieces of the periodic table on the inside. After gluing them down I realized they kinda looked like Tetris blocks falling….oh well.

The envelope I spritzed with Dylusions spray ink and then used the Faded Dots stencil with Worn Lipstick DI to tie it in with the card front.

It only took about six minutes before Ronin had knocked over a jar of rare bulbous petals. Ignoring the Lady Commander’s cries of protest that he wouldn’t do it again, I confined her daemon to a cage in the corner of the lab before he could destroy any more precious ingredients and set to work on the potions. Cats….this is why I do not allow them in my lab…

Heart Stick For You

Today the Lady Commander of Copics and I embarked on a quest through Heart Stick Field. In these vast fields grow the rare heartropic plant, a vital ingredient used in brewing love potions. As we roamed the field, felling any enemies who tried to engage us in battle, we collected all of the heartropics plants we came across. We were about the leave Heart Stick Field when we spotted a creature in distress. In the distance, we could see a furry blue monster surrounded by venomous giant spiders. The poor thing was quivering in fear before the demons.
“Come sister,” I said, notching an arrow in my great bow, Fungi, as I raced towards the battle. 

I started this card by making the background using various shades of pink Distress Ink and then adding some spritzes of Pink Bubblegum Dylusions spray ink. I stamped the hearts on top using the Unity January 2013 KOTM (the sentiment also came from that kit). I also stamped the love definition in the background using the Unity “Give it All Meaning” stamp. Next I stamped the Stampotique “Hug Monster” and coloured him using Prismacolor pencils. The hearts-on-sticks I cut from the Cricut Artbooking cartridge.

On the inside I stamped the sentiment using the Lawn Fawn “My Silly Valentine” set. On the side I inked a Unity stamp with Distress ink and before stamping it, spritzed it with water to give it the blurry imperfect look.

The envelope was stamped with the same “heart strings” that are on the front “tying” everything together...get it….strings….tying….Hey - I just earned +60 punny XP!

The Lady Commander and I quickly dispensed of the vile spider demons, freeing the blue monster.
“Thanks lady warriors,” the monster said as his tail swished behind him, aflame with red light. Suddenly he lunged at us, entrapping us both in a giant hug.
“Squishy lady warriors,” he giggled and just as abruptly released us from his grasp.
“K bye,” the monster trotted off through the fields waving as he left.
“Well that was peculiar,” I said affixing my bow to my back.
“And CUUUUUUUTE,” the Lady Commander squealed, her eyes shining. “Let’s follow him!”
Before I could stop her, she was already dashing off in the direction of the blue monster. Silently shaking my head I jogged to catch up.

The Tale of Sad Boy

If you’ve visited us here at the Guild Hall before, you know that I am a weaver of stories. As every craft allows us to level up, so is every craft accompanied by a tale. This year, upon receiving my brother’s name in the family gift swap, I decided to combine the two - crafts and stories - into this epic gift for the most impossible to shop for human in the realm. I give you...The Tale of Sad Boy.

Here’s the front cover. It’s a storybook/gift card holder (because what else do you purchase for the most impossible to shop for human in the realm other than gift cards). I stamped the title with the Lawn Fawn “Jessie’s ABCs” set. I then used the Stampotique “Oh... Tree” and “O Joy” and the small ornament cube for the front cover. I quickly coloured it in with Prismacolours, not really spending a whole lot of time (Hey...this was being given to a boy...it was probably going to be thrown out after).

Here we go. First part of the story. (You can click on the picture to make it BIGGER if you can't read the story). On the left side I used the Stampotique “Tangled Enthusiasm” and a small tree that came with Kraftin Kimmie’s “Willard”. The right side was stamped with The Greeting Farm’s “Cheeky Geeky”. I paper pieced her hair and headband to save on colouring time.

K...next page. On the left I stamped Stampotique’s “Hunk” and the foodstuffs from the Lawn Fawn “Love ‘n Breakfast” set. The right hand side was “O Joy” again along with the tv stomach portion of the robot from Technique Tuesday’s “Tin Man” set. So now comes the gift card part…

The way this was folded, there were kinda like pockets in the tops of the pages. I made little paper tabs and taped them on the gift card that cooresponded to what was happening in the story. This page got a tab stamped with the toast from the “Love ‘n Breakfast” set and went on a Subway gift card.

This tab just got a little present and went on a Future Shop gift card (which is a big box electronics store...like Best Buy).

Here’s the next page. The left side was stamped with the Stampotique “Karin” and then I drew on the angry eyebrows to make her more ragey. The steam (showing just how mad I was gonna be) was stamped with the Lawn Fawn “My Cup of Tea” set. The RAWR was stamped with “Jessie’s ABCs”. On the opposite page I stamped the cute girl cuddling a kitty with The Greeting Farm’s “Furever” set. The fruit all came from Lawn Fawn’s “My Silly Valentine”. Ready to see the gift cards in these pages?

First up is an itunes gift card.

Next is for a grocery store (this is what happens when you are the most impossible to shop for human in the realm). I actually wanted to get way more gift cards in smaller denominations - like $5 - (just to be extra obnoxious...cuz what are sisters for?), but it was surprisingly hard to find ones that came in small amounts.

This storybook/gift card holder was fun to make and super easy. Hopefully it will teach my dear brother to be a little more cooperative come Christmas time and give people ideas of what to get him…...but...I doubt it.

Ragey Bear

Today I decided to brave the weather and head to the village market square and run some errands, as we were running dangerously low on a few vital potions and powders. Strapping on my snowshoes, I started the walk to the village gates. I was about halfway there when I heard muttering and cursing coming from around the bend. When I rounded the tree-lined corner a cute little koala bear was walking towards me grumbling to himself.
“Stupid, winter. I hate the snow. I hate the cold. I hate the winter festival. I hate presents. I hate shopping….*grumble*grumble*...” he cursed, clenching his fists in anger.
I almost had to cast a spell of Silence to keep myself from laughing.

I started this festive ATC by stamping the Stampotique “Grumpy Koala” image and colouring his cute furry face with Prismacolor pencils. I then stamped and coloured the toque using the Dylusions “Christmas Accessories” set. Before gluing his hat on his head though, I needed to do the background. I stamped the snowflakes using the Lawn Fawn “Yeti, Set, Go” set and heat embossed them. The snowbank lines I stamped with the Lawn Fawn “Winter in the Park” set. I then masked off the koala and snow, earning myself +50 shadow magic exp points, and used Weathered Wood and Iced Spruce Distress Ink to colour the background. 

After that was done I glued the toque on his head and added some ice Stickles to the pom-pom and the tops of the snow. I am so in love with this ATC, that I think I may just cast a spell of transmutation and turn him into a Christmas card.

As the grumpy, cursing bear passed me I thought that perhaps some of his complaints weren’t completely unfounded. I certainly wasn’t fond of the cold, or shopping for that matter. Most wonderful time of the year indeed…

Under Where?

As the weather starts to cool, the leaves falling from the trees, it’s hard not to think about the great Winter Festival that will be here in three moons time. As the rightful present distributing chap was now reinstated, talk around the Guild Hall turned to how this Winter Festival would differentiate from the previous year’s debacle. As I walked into the kitchens where numerous house elves were busy canning the latest harvest, I smiled whilst listening to them exchanging tales about the gift giving man they’d never seen.
“I heard that if you don’t believe in him and fail to leave out milk and cookies, you just get underwear,” Olga whispered to another house elf.
“I heard it was coal,” countered Mildred.
“No no...I know someone who failed to leave the required baked goods. It is definitely underwear,” Olga stated firmly, tightening the jar of peaches she was holding.

This was created for the Creative Card Crew’s “Christmas” challenge that is happening now! Create a Christmas project and you could win a $15 gift voucher to Scrapping Center! Merry early Christmas to you!
 
I started this card by stamping the Stampotique “Underwhere” and the “Oh..Tree” images and colouring them with my trusty ‘ol Prismacolor pencils. I then added some of the Stampotique ornaments, colouring them and cutting them out to glue to the tree.
After that I decided they looked a little plain so added some Glossy Accents to the heart on top the tree and the ornaments, earning me +392 glossy texturization exp points. The undies from the Unity “Change is a Good Thing” itty bitty, I stamped on patterned paper and cut out, tying some thread through to make a little bow. The sentiment is from the Unity “Naughty is the New Nice” set. The snowflakes are also Unity stamps, but I don’t know the name of the set, as it was a special that came without packaging.

On the inside I stamped more snowflakes, light enough that you can still write a message over top. The sentiments came from the Dylusions “Christmas Words” set and the My Pink Stamper “Christmas Wishes” set. 

Some more snowflakes adorned the front of the envelope to make everything all matchy match.

This Christmas card will hope for more than undies in the following challenges:

As conspiracy theories drifted throughout the hall, one thing was certain - this year we wouldn’t have to plan a heist to save any slaves and could enjoy a nice relaxing Winter Festival in the realm...or could we….?
