Keep Calm and Game On

Today we were paid a visit from the odd plumber the Lady Commander of Copics and I met a couple years ago on our vacation to the Mushroom Kingdom. Predictably, the useless princess got herself captured again by the giant lizard and the plumber thought that he had taken her to our neck of the woods. I assured him that I had spotted no such lizard roaming our lands, and invited him in to join us playing some video games, hoping it would relax him.

I started this card by stamping the Magnolia “Game On Edwin” image and colouring him with Prismacolor pencils. I decided he needed an extra life, so I stamped a little mushroom from the Lawn Fawn “Gnome Sweet Gnome” set and coloured it green, gluing it in Edwin’s hand. I then cut the card base using the Wrap It Up cartridge and the sentiment using the Robotz cartridge. 

The red buttons on the base were blobbed with Glossy Accents and the d-pad was popped up with pop dots, earning me +88 dimensional XP points.

On the inside I stamped the top sentiment using the Lawn Fawn “Harold’s ABCs” set and the bottom one with a Close to My Heart set.

I then made this little gift card holder using the Wrap It Up cartridge. Before I folded and glued it, I stamped the cardstock using the numbers from the Tim Holtz “Reflections” set.

The weird plumber was oddly good at Mario Kart and Mario Party, easily beating my sister and I. After playing a few rounds he seemed more relaxed and set out once again to find the missing princess. I'm certain that when he thinks he has finally located her, it will be revealed that she is actually in another castle. Just a hunch...

OMG - It's Almost Time!

The Winter Festival feast is only one day away and the Guild Hall house gnomes are in an absolute panic to get everything ready. We have quite a few guests coming tomorrow including Guild Mercenary Kimmy, mine own lady mother, some of the Lady Commander of Copics’ monster friends, our little mousey friend Maxwell, Chilly Willy and various others travelling in from all over the realm. Even though I was in the midst of a quest with my fellow guildies, we hung up our weapons and armor and jumped into the fray to assist the house gnomes with preparations for tomorrow. 

This was created for the Creative Card Crew’s “Anything Goes” challenge that is happening now! Create a project and you could win a $15 gift voucher to Scrapping Center!

 

I started this card by colouring the KennyK “Total Drama” image using Prismacolor pencils. I stamped the Dec 25 calendar page using the Dylusions “Christmas Accessories” set, inking around the edges a bit using Tea Dye Distress Ink. I used a page out of an old manga comic and ripped it down the middle so my Christmasy design paper was showing through. This earned me +77 destruction exp points. I purposely chose this page because the dialogue you can see says “But it’s almost time…” Last I cut the OMG letters out using the Robotz cartridge. 

On the inside I stamped the sentiment using the Dylusions “Christmas Words” set and framed it by stamping the Unity “Stick With Me” image. I used the negative cut that was left over from cutting the OMG on the front as a stencil and sponged some red ink onto it.

So this envelope took about as long as the whole card did - lol. First I drew out all the lines to separate them into comic book type panels. I left the middle blank to write the address and then started stamping images in the other panels. The top left and middle were stamped with the Crafty Secrets “Coffee and Tea” set. The next one was stamped with the FlonzCraft “Cute Kids and Teens” anime set. The bottom left was stamped with the Tim Holtz “Christmas Memories” set. Next up I used the Lawn Fawn “Winter Sparrow” set and the “Winter Owl” set. Last I used the Lawn Fawn “Yeti Set Go” set. I sent this to my friend who is a comic artist and graphic designer and it looked so awesome after I wrote the address in the middle!

Sometimes the most important quest line is happening right in your own home. With us guildies helping them, the house gnomes were able to complete all the outstanding tasks and breathe a little easier...that is until my lady mother shows up…that is a whole ‘nother quest in itself. *shudder*

Project Robotz: The Final Battle

The time was upon us. We had built our robot army and were ready to bring vengeance down upon the Shrieking Harpies. We had finished construction on the massive robot general that would lead the robot minions on the battlefield. His magnetic core would keep him in constant contact with the rest of the robots, allowing him to know exactly what each of them were doing. We installed a satellite on his antenna to boost his communication signal, ensuring none of the robots would miss any of his commands.

I made this robot box to house the set of five robot themed cards I made which you can see here, here, here, here and here. I cut the robot, gears and letters out using the Robotz cartridge. I embossed the letters with my handy dandy Swiss Dots folder before gluing them together. 

 The background I embossed with the coordinating Robotz Cuttlebug folder. I added that same gear paper around the edges of the box and in the middle to tie it together with the cards that also use that same paper. Lastly, I glued some key rings onto the box for a little metal, giving it a more robot-y feel.

The robot dude comes off! I glued a magnet on his back (underneath the shadow layer so you can’t see it) and one in between the layers of gear paper and its border so he will “stick” to the card. This earned me +492 concealment exp points. 

There he is hanging out on the side of my fridge, being all magnetic-y and stuff.

We loaded the robots one at a time into the massive transportation device. The metal creaked and groaned as the cogs whirled and steam spewed from the pipes. We were ready. The final battle was upon us. Wish us luck.

Crash Landings and Lasers

The Lady Commander of Copics and I were just about to set out on our evening campaign to the Sunken Desert when we ran into an unexpected hangup. We had just finished saddling the horses and were about to depart the Guild Hall grounds when a massive hot air balloon descended from the sky. It crashed in a cloud of smoke right in the middle of the front lawn. A woman wearing a tophat with a pink sash hopped out and looked around. Seemingly just spotting my sister and I, she removed her large goggles and strode towards us.

“Where is this?” she demanded.

“I...I’m sorry?” I stammered, not understanding her question.

“Where. Am. I?” she repeated, emphasizing each word. Before I could open my mouth to answer she drew her weapon - a silver plated laser gun.

I used the Steampunk Sally image and coloured her up with Prismacolors. I got so carried away colouring her hair beautifully purple, I didn’t realize that I accidentally coloured her arm as hair...whoopsies. 
After she was done, I set her aside to work on the background. I swiped some Distress Ink on my kraft sheet, sprayed it with water and mopped up the ink with some white paper. After drying it with my heat tool, I stamped the background with the cog image from the Tim Holtz “Industrial Blueprint” set. The gears and cogs I cut using my Cricut and the Robotz cartridge, then embossed them with my Cuttlebug. The sentiment and small gears I stamped using the “Get in Gear” set from There She Goes.

On the inside I stamped the sentiment using the My Pink Stamper “Birthday Crazy” set and the Mark’s Finest Paper “Celebrate Big” set. I added some gears from the Unity “Nuts and Bolts” set and a stamp from the Dylusions "Further Around the Edge" set.

I stamped the same gears and border stamp on the envelope to make it all matchy-match, earning me +45 coordination exp points.

“You really don’t want to do that,” I said slowly.

“And why is that, friend? Those are some fine looking animals and I can clearly use some alternate transportation,” she said gesturing to her ruined balloon.

In answer an arrow whistled through the still night air, striking the woman in the hand that held her weapon. Crying out in pain, she was forced to drop her gun and grasped her bleeding hand trying to remove the arrow. In one fluid movement I dismounted Ruffles and had my sword drawn and at the miscreant’s throat. The Guardian of Glitter emerged from the shadows, notching another arrow, aiming at the purple-haired lady.

“I did try to warn you, friend,” I sneered, gesturing with my blade for her to stand, while kicking aside her laser gun. The Lady Commander of Copics bound the strange woman and we lead her to the dungeons to await a trial by the king's jury.

[Robomom-1200]

Today a travelling pedlar stopped by the Guild Hall, attempting to sell us a robotic housekeeper. I assured the man that we had no need for such an extravagance when I had numerous house gnomes in my employ, whose sole purpose is to care for a household. The man insisted I “test drive” his newest model and he would come collect it in a week’s time to see if I’ve changed my mind. Virtually leaving me no choice, he left the robot on the doorstep and hurried on his way.

I made this card by cutting the robot maid and the sentiment out using the Robotz cartridge. Instead of the boring eyes that come with the cut, I gave her some fun googley eyes in two different sizes, as is my usual style. I always say anything with different sized eyes is  automatically much cuter than its equal-eye-sized counterparts. I embossed the robot’s hair and apron using my Cuttlebug and trusty Swiss Dots folder. The background I embossed with my gears folder and added some Distress Ink to make the gears stand out a little more.

The inside sentiment I stamped using the Technique Tuesday “Tin Man” set. I stamped a little paw at the bottom, since I was going to sign my direwolf’s name in addition to mine and my lord husband’s.

I turned towards the robotic maid and before I could say anything it opened its mouth and a computerized voice came out, “ROBOMOM-1200 REPORTING FOR DUTY. PLEASE INPUT FIRST TASK.” This was going to be an interesting week.

Bright Ideas Abound

Today there was an inventor visiting the village. Some say he is mad, while others insist his machines are genius. The Lady Commander and I decided to head to the village and see for ourselves. He was an interesting looking chap. Although well dressed, he did have a light bulb in place of an eye. When I asked him about it, he said it was an experiment gone awry, but turned out to be quite useful in, ummm... “dim” situations. I asked to see his wares and he lead us around the the back of his wagon. His cart was full of hissing and whirring machines, smoke coming out of every one. 

I am not well adapt in the art of tag construction, but decided to try my hand at it nonetheless, unexpectedly earning myself +496 tag creation exp points and leveling up! I started by spraying the tag with Dylusions spray ink - vibrant turquoise and bubblegum pink being my colours of choice. After it was dry I embossed it with my “gears” embossing folder. Because the tag material is soooooo thick, you really can’t see the embossing very well. 

I coloured The Octopode Factory’s “Steampunk Alfie” image using Prismacolors and added some Glossy Accents to his light bulb. I then cut the gears using the Robotz cartridge and embossed each one as well. Some screw brads and crinkle ribbon finished off this tag.

Most of the mad inventor’s creations appeared broken or in ill repair. We did however spot one thing, shoved way in the back of the wagon, that caught my eye. A device that evidently swept floors all on its own. It used magical capsules the inventor called “batteries” for energy and would roam the room sucking up dirt and debris. Despite the outrageous cost, I handed over my gold pieces and purchased the device, eager to try it out.
