Messages Gone Astray

It seems my inscription for today was lost and didn’t get entered into the log yesterday as it should have. Apparently the raven carrying my entry to the scribes in Script’s Sanctuary went missing. I suspect it was shot down by the evil Hi-Tak, a menacing wizard who has seemed to make it his mission to impose as many problems on the Crafters Guild as possible. My suspicions were confirmed when I received a message from a remote clan of penguins living in the north. They had found my raven along with the inscribed parchments meant for Script’s Sanctuary.

This card was created for the Just Some Lines December challenge (which actually started yesterday). Our theme this month is Christmas or winter. Come play along with us using a Just Some Lines image for your chance to win!
I started this card by colouring the Just Some Lines “Penguin Oh Christmas Tree” image using Prismacolor pencils. I then traced the outline of the tree and penguins and cut it out to create a mask so I could colour the background with Distress Inks. After the background was good and coloured, I spritzed it with Perfect Pearls mist for some shine and to make it look as though it was snowing and icy out. I cast a glitter spell on the star of the tree to make it nice and sparkly and then added some ice Stickles to the ends of the branches for +444 bonus shimmer exp points. Finally I stamped the sentiment which came from the Unity October 2013 KOTM, and added some sparkly twine.

On the inside I stamped the sentiment and frame using the Unity “Everything Christmas” kit. The sparkles all around the sentiment were stamped using the Lawn Fawn “Winter in the Park” set.

On the envelope I stamped a few snowflakes using a cheap-o Recollections brand set, earning myself +234 frugality exp points.

These penguins will stare off into the following challenges:
The penguin clan sent my parchments on their way at my request and they made it safely to Script’s Sanctuary (so that you can now read this entry). I owe them a great debt...perhaps some fresh fish under their tree?
