Today was the birthday celebration of Janus, a powerful sorcerer who sits on the Wizard’s Council. Janus wasn’t always a good mage though, having once battled for the forces of darkness. Luckily, he saw the error of his ways, and joined the heros in our struggle for justice. Today he turned 149 years old. I am always unsure as to what to get for one who has lived over a century, so I went for the safe choice and opted for a gift card to Potions ‘R Us. Before heading to the party, I made a stop in the crafting chambers, so create something to house the gift card I had purchased.
I started this card by creating the background using Distress Inks and a stamp from the My Pink Stamper “Family and Friends” set and stamping it over and over to create a pattern. I then used the Birthday Bash cartridge to cut the large sentiment and present. I embossed the present and drew some stitching onto the words before gluing everything together. Some yellow raffia finished off the front, earning me +392 knotty exp points.
On the inside I created a pocket for a gift card to fit into, using my circle punch for the notch. I then stamped the pocket using a sentiment from the My Pink Stamper “Birthday Crazy” set.
This gift card holder will be entered into the following challenges:
Top Tip Tuesday Challenge #106: Spooled Items (raffia) [Tip: When creating pockets, use wet adhesives. Because dry adhesives remain sticky, your gift card, tag etc can sometimes get stuck in the pocket]
Janus was delighted with the gift card, having spent numerous gold coins at the popular potion store. Hilarity ensued when his purple cat, Alfredo Sauce, snatched the card out of his hand and ran around the chamber in a frenzy, eventually crashing into the giant cake. I’m fairly certain that cat is crazy...or high on cat nip.
